The Blue and Gold Alumni helps youth to cultivate their own understanding of themselves and the social problems they face and use their talents and skills to create solutions in their own lives and in their communities.
Serving throughout the Lowcountry, TBGA employs youth ages 13 to 19 as the leaders of social change initiatives that positively influence the values and behaviors among their peers with the goal of closing the achievement gap, increasing knowledge of self, and eradicating self-destructive behaviors. Youth-led initiatives engages more youth and adults in community, which strengthens efforts and unify their voices and lived experience to challenge and change policies that negatively effect their lives.
We have one teen summit quarterly, a soft skills workshop and a annual alumni basketball event. Funds from sponsors and donations will be utilized to fund The Blue and Gold Alumni Scholarship Fund. We award teens of all ages with scholarships from schools within the low country of South Carolina.
